PARIS (AFP) - The pair were an iconic show-biz couple in the 1970s after they met together on the set of the film "Jeff", appearing with regularity on the front-pages of glossy magazines.
Delon, who is 71, told AFP Tuesday that the play -- about the brief but intense relationship between a photographer and a married woman -- has powerful personal resonances.
"It is not just a play. It is our life. Robert Kincaid, the photographer -- that is me. It is autobiographical," said the star, who currently lives in Switzerland.
"The text is pretty strong stuff, but between him and me now everything is under control. There is a lot of tenderness and so it's easy," said Darc, 68.
Delon and Darc split up at the start of the 1980s. Darc later moved into television and the couple were reunited in 2003 for the TV series Franck Riva, in which he played a detective and she his ex-wife.
Delon, who came to fame 50 years ago in films such as "Plein Soleil" and "Rocco et ses freres", is set to appear as Julius Caesar in the upcoming Asterix film, "Asterix and the Olympic Games."
