November 21, 2008, (Sawf News) - In a long winded reply, Aishwarya Rai gamely defends her blink-and-you'll-miss-it appearances in Pink Panther 2 trailers, calling herself a talented actress while she is at it, and getting her facts wrong about Steve Martin's association with the Pink Panther franchise.

Asked by TOI at an event in Mumbai recently as to what prompted her to take a small role in the film here is what Aishwarya had to say:

"I haven't seen Pink Panther but I loved doing the film. It's a fun film and very obviously it's an ensemble film. All actors in the film are talented and we have not kept a tab on the screen time, camera presence each of us have. It's a film where various actors have come together. It is of course a Steve Martin film. Pink panther is known over years for Steve! It also has Andy Garcia, John Rayno..various actors doing cameos. I am making an honest confession here, since I am in Kerala, we have no access to net. I have never had a chance to look at the promos, though they sent it to me for approval. I have been working in movies for 12 years and I have never ever dictated or questioned my directors. I am innately secure and confident. Its your (press) job to scrutinize but I am glad people here are being supportive of Indian representation in foreign films. When Khaki was out it was an Amitabh Bachchan film but nobody asked me why Rajkumar Santoshi had just one closeup of mine in the poster. I hope the press

looks at Pink Panther in similar way. "

Whew! It is the Bachchan eloquence catching up with Aishwarya.

"All actors in the film are talented"

Hmm…'There are many talented actors in the film' could have been a more modest way of putting it.

"Pink Panther is known over years for Steve!"

Actually, Steve Martin, who has over 40 films to his credit, has acted in just one Pink Panther film, after the franchise was revived in 2006. Pink Panther was known over the years for Peter Sellers.

Will you people shut your crap..

Its so disgusting to of people like to write and write all crap that you can think of about Aishwarya. She is a talented actress in every sense of the craft. She has delivered beautiful performances throughout her career and yet you just can not stand to her. When there was not one, it is the script (and afterthat, direction) that failed. When the foundation is no good, there can be no performance from the greatest actor. Amitabh Bachchan's films have flopped top, does that mean he did not knew acting during the making or forgot it while doing the film or was it a case of temporary loss of craft in your books. He is a great actor and whenever he could not perform great in a film, it is his charcter, the script and the direction that failed him and his craft.

She said that the film is known for Steve over the years. Well I know English and 'over the years' means past few years, which is less than 5. The term 'always' will be suitable for Peter Sellers. And by 'blikn-and-miss' you mean to say, Andy Garcia and Jean Reno, who are anytime much bigger personalities and known actor than Aishwarya, are also blink-and-miss in the film.

Why don't you just say that Aishwarya makes you cringe because of her success and never-ending record of proving you always wrong when after every 2-3 months you carry a niews piece how Aishwarya's carrer is over and she will have retire.
