April 3, 2008 (Sawf News) - Intel is launching the second-generation of what it calls the "Intel-powered classmate PC" - a computer that is water-resistant, drop-proof and wireless-capable. The computers also include larger screens, built-in cameras and have increased memory.
Intel indicates the Classmate PCs, which are pre-installed with education software, will be available in eight different languages.
Prior to releasing the new computers, Intel indicates it also trained tens of thousands of teachers in developing countries on how to use both the Classmate PC as well as other technology applications. The purpose of the training, an Intel spokesperson says, is to help these regions become viable economic competitors in the 21st Century.
