March 24, 2008 (Sawf News) - American film and television actress Jennifer Aniston has won an Emmy and Golden Globe Award each. She is best known for the TV series Friends that spanned 238 episodes from 1994-2004, and films like Office Space, The Iron Giant and The Good Girl.
Born on February 11, 1969 in Los Angeles, California, Aniston grew up in New York City.
She embarked on a TV career after moving to Los Angeles in 1990. However, the going was rough for her and a string of shows in which she appeared were cancelled. Her big screen debut in the horror film Leprechaun (1992) was also panned by critics, forcing her to contemplate giving up acting.
Life turned around for her after she auditioned for Friends. Interestingly, Aniston was initially earmarked to be Monica Geller in the series, but convinced the producers that she would do better suited as Rachel Green.
Aniston married Brad Pitt on July 29, 2000, following a high profile relationship.
The marriage was initially considered a rare Hollywood success story. However, cracks began to surface in their marriage late in 2004 and they announced their separation on January 7, 2005.
The tabloid press attributed their break up to an alleged affair between Pitt and Angelina Jolie on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
Jolie denied the accusation saying, "To be intimate with a married man, when my own father cheated on my mother, is not something I could forgive. I could not look at myself in the morning if I did that. I wouldn't be attracted to a man who would cheat on his wife."
Aniston was romantically linked with her Breakup co-star Vince Vaughn in 2006. In December 2006, representatives for both Aniston and Vaughn confirmed that they had split up a few weeks ago.
