Born on December 18, 1978 in Toledo, Ohio, Katie became the focus of media attention world wide when she started to date actor Tom Cruise in early 2005. The two were engaged in June, two months after they first met.
Katie gave birth to daughter Suri Cruise on April 18, 2006 and on November 18, 2006, she and Cruise married in Italy.
Holmes was raised a Roman Catholic. She joined the Church of Scientology shortly after the couple began dating.
