9 November 2007 (Sawf News) - 19th World Music Awards were held on 4th Nov 2007 at the Sporting Club Monte Carlo in Monaco. The show was hosted by Julian McMahon. The guests and the performers at the show included Rihanna, Ciara, Patti Labelle, Akon, Shaggy, Denise van Outen, Victoria Silvstedt, Celine Dion, Akon, Mika and Avril Lavigne.
World Music awards are not based on the personal opinion of a jury but are a recognition of an artistes worldwide sales in the year.
Avril Lavigne won two awards - the best selling pop rock female artist and the best selling Canadian artist.
His Serene Highness Prince Albert II, presented Celine Dion with the night's highest honor, the Legend Award for outstanding contribution to music. The Prince said, "Her contribution to music is as potent as her courageous voice."
The event will be aired on Nov 22 at 8 pm on MYNETWORKTV, a new fox channel in association with myspace.com.
