Prince Charles

London, Sept.23: His organic garden is not the only thing that heir to the British throne Prince Charles is extremely particular about for it seems that he’s also just as finicky when it comes to his boiled eggs.

The BBC's arch inquisitor Jeremy Paxman, in his new book on the UK’s first family’s household reveals that the Prince of Wales is extremely fond of boiled eggs, especially after a day’s hunting.

In ‘On Royalty’, Paxman reveals that Prince Charles is so picky about the level to which his eggs are boiled that his staff have to boil 7 eggs ranging from running to rock hard so that he can choose the one he wants to eat.

"Because his staff were never quite sure whether the egg would be precisely to the satisfactory hardness, a series of eggs was cooked, and laid out in an ascending row of numbers. If the Prince felt that number five was too runny, he could knock the top off number six or seven," the Daily Mail quoted Paxman, as stating in ‘On Royalty’.

Paxman said that though the anecdote, which he labeled "one of the most extraordinary stories I came upon while researching this book", seemed “preposterously extravagant” to be believable, the Prince’s household is witness to many such stories.

"Although it came from one of the Prince's friends, it seems so preposterously extravagant as to be unbelievable. And yet so many jaw-dropping stories have emerged of the way in which his household is run that it can sound credible," he stated.

Charles’ ex wife Diana's former butler Paul Burrell, in his memoirs, also revealed some of the things that his valet was required to do, including squeezing his toothpaste onto his brush and, on one occasion, holding a specimen bottle while Charles produced a urine sample in hospital.

Burrell also revealed that England’s future King also had a habit of communicating with his staff by memo on even the most trivial subjects.

"A letter from the Queen must have fallen by accident into the wastepaper basket beside the table in the library. Please look for it," was just one example.

Insiders claim that the newest revelations will only further cement Charles’ image as an out-of-touch eccentric with an almost impossibly rarefied lifestyle in the public’s eyes. (ANI)
