In her 20/20 interview with Diane Sawyer, Dupre says she found out that she had been with the governor at the same time as the rest of the world did because as a 22-year-old she was engrossed in herself and did not read the papers. When she spent time with him, Spitzer looked familiar but she did not recognize him.
When she watched Spitzer admit to the affair on TV, she connected with his wife, not him, because she could see the pain in his wife's eyes.
She says she turned to her mother for advice during her hour of travail. Her mother was not aware of her job content and was as shocked as any mother would be.
She also turned to her biological father telling him, "Daddy, I am in trouble."
As to her step father, an oral surgeon who has raised her from the age of seven, Dupre says he "was so disgusted for me."
However, her relationship with him has since improved.
"He has been there and is supporting me the best way that he can," she says.
The most poignant part of the interview is when Sawyer confronts Dupre on the difference between an escort and a prostitute.
