November 20, 2008, (Sawf News) - Madonna and Guy Ritchie have settled the terms of their divorce and will be granted a preliminary divorce decree by the High Court in London on Friday, November 21.
Details of the terms of the divorce have not been divulged but Times Online reports that Madonna will keep the bulk of her more than $500 million fortune and the couple will share custody of their two children together, Rocco, 8, and David, 3, who will split time between their parents in New York and London.
Rocco was born to the couple on August 11, 2000 before their marriage on December 22, 2000. They adopted David from Malawi in 2006.
Madonna's 12-year-old daughter, Lourdes, from her relationship to fitness trainer Carlos Leon, will live in America with her mother.
Under British law, Ritchie, whose own assets are estimated at $50 million, would have been entitled to 50 percent of the money earned during the marriage.
"He could have hugely boosted his bank balance and set himself up for life, but he already feels he has enough money," a friend told Times Online. "He also didn't want the whole thing dragging on in the public gaze for months and months and, in any case, his priority was the children's future."
However, another source close to the couple disagrees.
"He's going to get a huge windfall, contrary to what's being reported," the source tells People. "He's getting a lot of money from the settlement. He's not the gentleman he's portraying himself as."
