November 11, 2008, (Sawf News) - Taylor Swift who released her new studio album, Fearless on Tuesday, November 11, says she owed it to her fans to go public about her split with Joe Jonas.
"With this situation, I feel like I owed it to my fans to be like, 'Look, it happened, you weren't crazy,' and address it," she told MTV News. "And I addressed it, and, you know, that's a chapter in my life that's closed now."
Swift, who refers to her relationship with Joe Jonas in the album song Always and Forever, doesn't know if Joe has heard the song.
"I don't talk to him," she says.
The 18-year-old country music star is unabashed about dwelling on her past relationships in her songs.
"I like to write personal songs," she added. "I like to write songs that are very obviously about people. It's kind of hard to change your stripes. I like to write songs about love, and I like to write songs about relationships, and I like to write songs about boys."
However, unlike in the past, her references are now more subtle.
"On this album, I had the opportunity to be more general, and it might have done me some good to be general," she said.
The first single, Love Story, from Taylor's new album Fearless is at #1 on the Country.
Swift has been nominated for female vocalist of the year at CMA awards on November 12, and as Favorite Female Artiste, Country Music at the AMA on November 23.
She is excited about the CMA award nomination:
"The CMA award nomination - that's a big deal to me, because that's the [Female Vocalist of the Year] category," she said. "That's not a New Artist category. So it's cool to be considered in that way."
