November 03, 2008, (Sawf News) - English singer and songwriter Amy Winehouse checked back into the hospital Monday, November 3, after spending the weekend at home.
Amy, 25, who checked into The London Clinic on Saturday, October 25, following a suspected chest infection, checked out on Friday, October 31 to be at home over the weekend.
"She had a chest infection and underwent some tests to make sure nothing else was wrong," a source tells People.
In June 2008, Winehouse's publicist reported that she had developed early signs of what could lead to emphysema.
Her dad, Mitch, an earthy cabdriver had then warned, "Doctors have told her if she goes back to smoking drugs it will kill her."
According to the source, Amy is making the effort to get well.
"She has been told to give up smoking and was initially struggling with that - she was covered in nicotine patches at one point," says the source. "But she is making an effort."
British tabloids reported the frail multiple Grammy award wining singer, known for her soulful, powerful contralto vocals, was looking fuller in the face over the weekend.
Amy is currently working on her third studio album and has been learning to play drums.
"We'll have to see how that plays out on the next album," her London-based rep, Chris Goodman, tells People.
