October 01, 2008, (Sawf News) - Britney Spears made a surprise visit to John Philip Sousa, Jr. High School in the Bronx, New York on Wednesday, October 1, her third day of visit to New York City, where she was serenaded by the 'Sousatones,' with the school's eight-piece band.
Following the band's performance, Sal Mazzola, the director of the school's music program told Britney, "When you're ready to take us on the road for an opening act, we're ready."
Britney, who announced her intent to tour in 2009 on Z100 radio on Monday, replied, "You'll be the first people I call."
The 26-year-old presented a check for $10,000, donated by Elizabeth Arden, which markets Britney's fragrances - Believe, Fantasy and Curious, to the school's one year old music program.
Her visit was a pleasant surprise for the children; the school was closed on account of the Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashanah and the children had just been told a "high profile" guest would be visiting them.
"I can't believe she's here," said one pupil, "I couldn't say anything - it's Britney. I was shell-shocked."
