September 19, 2008 (Sawf News) - Selena Gomez is not enthused by the prospect of acting in a film or TV series prequel to Emmy and Golden Globe award winning TV series Sex and the City, which was recently adopted for the big screen.
"That's not really the audience I'm going for," Gomez, 16, told E! at the Teen Vogue Young Hollywood party at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art on Thursday, September 18. "I mean, my mom loves the show and it's a very popular show, but that's not the direction I'm looking to take at this time."
Under a recent deal with Harper Collins, Sex and the City author Candace Bushnell is set to pen two young adult novels focusing on the high school years of lead character Carrie Bradshaw played by Sarah Jessica Parker.
The two novels are likely to be adopted for a TV series or a movie.
Bushnell announced the deal during the launch of Sex and The City: The Movie DVD at the New York Public Library Thursday night, September 18.
Asked who she would like to see step into Parker's shoes, Bushnell said, "I don't know…Miley Cyrus!"
Earlier in June, Miley had expressed an interest in the TV series.
"I'd love to do a younger, cleaner version of 'Sex and The City,'" she told TV Guide.
