"Tony and I both laughed at it," said Jessica.
"Did you really?" asked the host.
"We got a chuckle out of it."
"So it is not true you think?"
"No I know it is not true."
Simpson then drove her point home saying, "If Tony wanted to call her ... or wanted to be with her, he would."
Speaking to Allure magazine for its September issue cover story, Underwood had claimed that she still gets phone calls from her ex Tony but she doesn't always pick up the phone.
Jessica Simpson will be making her Opry debut on September 6, alongside Loretta Lynn, Roy Clark, and Patty Loveless.
Her debut country music album, Do You Know, is scheduled to be released on September 9.
