August 12, 2008 (Sawf News) - Carrie Underwood says she still gets phone calls from her ex Tony Romo but she doesn't always pick up the phone, a claim that Romo's current girlfriend Jessica Simpson may find both disconcerting as well as reassuring.
Speaking to Allure magazine for its September issue cover story, Underwood says that her relationship with Romo wasn't serious.
"We were both small town people doing very big things, and we relied on each other, dealing with fame," she says.
Regarding their present relationship with him, she says, "I don't know. The phone will ring and it'll be him, and I'll maybe not answer."
Underwood was born on March 10, 1983 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Stephen and Carole Underwood, and was raised on her parents' farm in rural Checotah, Oklahoma.
She dated Dallas Cowboys quarterback Romo from Thanksgiving 2006 to May 2007. She then dated Gossip Girl hunk Chace Crawford from August 2007 to early 2008. The couple broke up over text.
Explaining the break up with Crawford, Underwood says "We didn't have a fight. No one cheated. It plain didn't work."
The five time Grammy Award-winning country pop singer-songwriter who rose to fame when she won the fourth season of American Idol, says her fame comes in the way when it comes to picking up the right date.
"You never really know why somebody wants to be around you, or if they do genuinely like you," she laments.
Intriguingly, Underwood reiterated a claim that she had made earlier in May speaking to InSyle that she had been cheated on.
"I don't want to name names, even though he probably deserves it, but he fooled around," she tells Allure. "Oh, yeah, and lied! It was one of those things that everyone knew but me. He was a good liar. Nobody would come out and tell me. And he seemed perfect in every way."
