August 6, 2008 (Sawf News) - Federal authorities closed their investigation into the death of Australian actor Heath Ledger without enforcing a subpoena served on Mary Kate Olsen by a federal grand jury on April 23 to testify in the case.
Olsen sought immunity before testifying but her attorney, Michael C. Miller, claimed she "had nothing whatsoever to do with the drugs found in Heath Ledger's home or his body."
Ledger, 28, was found dead in his New York apartment on Tuesday, January 22.
An autopsy determined the cause of death to be an accidental overdose of prescription pain, anxiety and sleep medication.
The investigation into the death by Drug Enforcement Administration had focused on the source of two powerful painkillers consumed by Ledger, Oxycodone and Vicodin, for which he had no prescription.
