August 1, 2008 (Sawf News) - 'People' magazine (US rights) in partnership with 'Hello' (Foreign rights) paid a whopping $14 million for the first photos of twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline. The photos will be published in the upcoming issue of the two magazines.
The entire amount is expected to go to a charity designated by Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.
Jolie and partner Brad Pitt welcomed twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline on Saturday, July 12 at Lenval hospital in Nice.
The two new bundles of joy pushed up the count of the Jolie-Pitt brood to half a dozen.
In a similar arrangement, People and Hello had paid $4 million in June 2006 for the baby pictures of the couple's first biological daughter Shiloh, born in June 2006.
People paid a whopping $6 million to Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony for the first photos of their recently born twins, Max and Emme.
Celebrity magazines usually recover the millions they shell out through increased sales of the magazine, higher ad revenue resulting from increased page views on their websites and resale of photos abroad. Sometimes, the cover price of the magazine is also increased.
