July 30, 2008 (Sawf News) - Kate Hudson and Lance Armstrong have split after a whirl wind romance that spanned across the US, Europe and Canada and during which the couple bonded with each others' children and lunched with Kate's mom Goldie Hawn.

"There was no drama or ugliness - They just decided to end things," a source close to the couple told Us magazine. "There is no hatred, just sadness."

Sources tell Pagesix that constant bickering and their travel schedules drove them apart. Kate made a last ditch effort to salvage the relationship when she traveled to Ohio for his Livestrong Summit, but "they both decided it wasn't feasible."

Kate, 29, and Lance, 36, started dating in May in Lance's hometown, Austin, TX. Later that month, the couple attended the Dolce & Gabbana bash in Cannes where they indulged in their first PDA.

Kate attended several cycling events that Lance participated in, including one in Toronto, Canada, in mid June, a fund raiser for two regional cancer centers.

Despite having been inseparable during their romance, the couple never acknowledged they were an item.

Kate refused to comment on the relationship during her appearance on The View in June.

Lance similarly remained tight lipped when he was quizzed about the relationship on the same program later.

Kate married The Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson in 2000. She gave birth to their son, Ryder Russell Robinson, on January 7, 2004. The couple filed for divorce in November, 2006, citing irreconcilable reasons.

Rumor has it that the breakdown of Kate's marriage was triggered by her affair with Owen Wilson, her You Me and Dupree co-star, whom she started to openly date after filing for divorce from Robinson. Kate and Owen split in May 2007.

Armstrong has three children from first wife Kristin Richard whom he married in May 1998: Luke, born in October 1999, and twins Isabelle and Grace, born in November 2001. The couple divorced in September 2003.

Armstrong was engaged to singer-songwriter Sheryl Crow in September 2005 but the couple split in February 2006.

A rep for Armstrong had no comment while a rep for Hudson could not be reached by Us magazine.
