July 24, 2008 (Sawf News) - Angelina Jolie conceived her twin suing in vitro fertilization because she and partner Brad Pitt wanted their babies quickly, and Jolie wanted to avoid the stress of trying to get pregnant.
"They conceived through in vitro fertilization," a source within the Jolie camp told Us magazine for its cover story this week. "They both desperately wanted more babies soon."
The actress chose the procedure so "she wouldn't have to deal with the stress of trying to get pregnant," the source added. "She could just knock it out."
According to experts in vitro fertilization increases the chances of conceiving fraternal twins from under 1 percent at Jolie's current age of 33 to 25 percent.
Jolie, 33, and Pitt, 45, have repeatedly expressed their desire to raise a large family.
"If we're going to have 10 kids, we'd like to raise them while we're young," Jolie told Elle U.K. last year.
Angelina Jolie gave birth to twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline by caesarean section on Saturday, July 12, at Lenval hospital in Nice, France.
The twin bundles of joy raised the count of the Jolie-Pitt brood to half a dozen as they joined their four existing siblings Maddox, 6; Pax, 4; Zahara, 3; and Shiloh, 2.
