Photo Credit: Splash NewsMay 15, 2008 (Sawf News) - Britney Spears jetted off to Costa Rica along with her father and conservator, Jamie Spears, to spend a weekend with Oscar winning actor and filmmaker Mel Gibson and his wife, at Mel's 400 acre ranch there.
Mel purchased the ranch in April 2007 at a cost of $26 million.
"They're just going away for a few days to relax," a source told People.
The group will be back early next week.
Britney was spotted dinning out with Oscar winning actor and filmmaker Mel Gibson at Romanov Restaurant and Lounge on Ventura Blvd. early Saturday evening, March15. The two were together for nearly two hours.
Like Britney, Mel has been under the close scrutiny of the press following his arrest in July 2006 from driving under the influence and subsequent anti Semitic rant.
In 2006, when Britney started to tailspin, following her separation from husband Kevin Federline, Mel reached out to her.
"I feel compassion for someone like Britney," he said. "She never gets a moment... Your heart goes out to her because I'm positive that, at her core, she's a good woman."
