© AFP Jeff HaynesMarch 31, 2008 (Sawf News) - According to an uncle Heath Ledger may have fathered a love child from a brief affair that he had as a 17-year-old schoolboy at Guildford Grammar.
The 25-year-old mother of his child, who was in an existing relationship at that time, discovered that she was pregnant after her break up with Heath.
The woman and her regular boyfriend raised the girl child despite being unsure about her paternity.
"There is a very real possibility that Heath was the father," Hayden Ledger, the brother of Heath's father Kim, has told News Limited.
A separate source in the family confirmed the existence of the child.
"Everyone lived under the assumption that she was the daughter of the mother's boyfriend and that is how she has been brought up," the source told the newspaper.
Ledger's parents Kim Ledger and Sally Bell have refused to comment on the claim that could result in Ledger's $60 million estate being split between his daughter Matilda Rose and the love child.
Heath's father is estranged from his brothers Haydn, Mike and Wayne and locked in a bitter property dispute with them.
Heath's last known will was drawn in April 2003, prior to the birth of his daughter Matilda. It lists only $145,000 in assets and divides the amount equally between his parents and his siblings - sister Kate Ledger and half sisters Olivia Ledger and Ashleigh Bell.
