Photo Credit: PR PhotosMarch 25, 2008 (Sawf News) - Heather Mills has told friends that she is employing a team of forensic accountants to go through Sir Paul McCartney's finances using a fine tooth comb, to prove his assets exceed $800 million, reports Daily Mail.
She married him out of love and divorced him because of differences but now she is just digging for gold.
Heather believes her former husband has $1600 million and she claims to have recording of Paul telling her as much.
"We all know he's worth £800 million ($1600 million). He's been worth £800 million for the last 15 years," Mills told the press recently.
The Sunday Times Rich List also put the former Beatle's wealth last year at $1650 million.
Dr Philip Beresford, who compiles the Sunday Times Rich List, feels that Paul may have transferred some of his assets to his children.
"We were wondering whether he had given them some slabs of money first to keep them quiet and then to keep them off his balance sheet," the Daily Mail quotes him as saying.
Heather's interest in Paul's assets is not academic. Proof that they substantially exceed $800 million, he was assessed to be worth during the settlement proceeding, may lead to an overturning of the settlement, she hopes.
The divorce ruling gave her a whopping $50 million as settlement that includes $70,000 a year for their daughter Beatrice.
Heather is contesting the amount earmarked for Beatrice telling friends that she can prove it is not enough for Beatrice to maintain her current standard of living.
Some legal sources say that Heather may not get what she wants even if she proves Paul has more money because the settlement given to her was based on her needs, not his assets.
