March 21, 2008 (Sawf News) - Heath Ledger may have been alone on the day he died in his New York apartment, January 22, but his final days were not lonely.
Micehelle Williams, Heath's former fiancé and the mother of his daughter Matilda, knew that Ledger was in "really, really bad shape" and had been desperately working to save him from his addictions, sources tells TMZ.
At the time of his death, Matilda was working with others in Heath's life to stage an intervention and get him into rehab.
Despite having fought and separated over Heath's substance abuse problem, Michelle continued to love him and was aware that he was a doting father to Matilda.
Michelle has taken the tragedy hard and wrangling in Heath's family over his will is not helping matters. Heath's two uncles, who have been estranged from the family, are trying to inject themselves into his will.
The family, however, is determined to make sure that Matilda gets what is due to her and is well taken care of.
