London, Feb 8 (ANI): Prince William surprised diners at a York curry restaurant by dropping in unannounced with 47 friends and running up a bill of 1,300 pounds.

The heir to the throne arrived from nearby RAF Linton-on-Ouse, where he is currently taking pilot training.

Though the house special at the Saffron Desi restaurant is 7.95 pounds, William's bill came to a heftier 1,300 pounds.

The young royal ordered three Strongbow ciders and an appropriately named curry called a Royal Delight.

Owner Mohammed Nisar said he was amazed when the prince appeared, dressed casually in jeans and t-shirt.

"We had taken a group booking but there had been no mention of a VIP. I was shocked,” the Telegraph quoted Nisar, as saying.

William roared with laughter when he spotted one of the restaurant's trademark huge naan breads being brought to his table.

"We took it to the table and he started laughing. He said he had never seen anything like it,” Nisar said.

The Prince is currently undertaking part of his pilot training at nearby RAF Linton-on-Ouse and it is believed his party was made up of RAF colleagues and royal protection officers. (ANI)
