Photo Credit: David Gabber / PR Photos12 December 2007 (Sawf News) - Tail spinning pop star Britney Spears is "reviewing the script" of a satire titled Sweet Baby Jesus to be produced by French filmmaker Philippe Rebboah (The Jeweller's Shop, 1989) in which Britney has been offered the role of Virgin Mary!
According to Us magazine, Britney is to play a pregnant 19-year-old who is unsure about the identity of her baby's father. She "goes into labor on Christmas Eve in Bethlehem, Maryland, as rumors swirl that the birth is Jesus Christ's second coming."
Philippe, who plans to start filming in March, admits the film was difficult to sell to his partners.
"I had to convince my partners, because they were like, 'Oh, no. Britney?' But I thought it was brilliant," Philippe says.
The real challenge for Philippe could well come in the unlikely event that Britney, 26, were to accept the role, going by the hard time that she has given to the producers of her new flop album Gimme More when filming promotional videos.
It is also moot if Britney's acceptance of the role would make an impression on LA Superior Court Commissioner Scott M. Gordon who is supervising Britney's child custody dispute with her ex Kevin Federline.
