London, July 24 (ANI): Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe celebrated his 18th birthday on July 23 by watching Lords Test cricket between India and England, which ended in draw owing to bad weather.

The actor, who was cheering on England at the stadium, even snubbed the offer of a private box at Lords and watched the action with his mates on 20-pound tickets in the stands.

"I am 18 and I'm very excited. We've been here all five days so far," British tabloid The Daily Mirror quoted him as saying.

Radcliffe insisted that he did not want to welcome his adulthood by turning extravagant, as most celebrities do.

"People expected me to have some massive extravagant bash with lots of celebrities, but that is so not my thing. Just to come here for the day was a bit of a dream really," he said.

"I don't plan to be one of those people who, as soon as they turn 18, suddenly buy themselves a massive sports car collection or something similar,” he added.

Radcliffe further said that he would instead purchase cheaper articles.

"I don't think I'll be particularly extravagant. The things I like buying are things that cost about 10 pounds, books, CDs and DVDs," he said.

The actor also had to sign a Harry Potter book after he received a request from a child.

"I think they guessed who I was when a kid came up to me and asked me to sign his book, so I think that was the big giveaway,” he said. (ANI)
