London, June 13 (ANI): British Prince Harry has been advised to stay away from his favorite summer sport, polo.

The suggestion to the 22-year-old royal comes days after he had been criticized for ignoring advice to stay away from nightclubs, and carousing with barmaids in Canada just hours after the 150th British soldier had died in Iraq.

Sources say that Harry has been told that prancing around on the polo field would not look good after the Army’s decision to stop him going to Iraq.

“He’s been warned not to play when he comes home. I think there is an acceptance that it doesn’t look good if he is photographed enjoying himself while the men in his regiment are out risking their lives in Iraq,” the Daily Express quoted a royal source as saying.

However, Harry’s elder brother, Prince William, will play polo on Sunday when Prince Charles and Prince Andrew attend a 25th anniversary parade of Falklands War veterans.

It is said that William wants to make a contribution to the millions raised by Prince Charles for charitable purposes.

But before that, William will make his first appearance as a serving soldier at Saturday’s Trooping the Colour ceremony, wearing uniform when he travels in a carriage and joins his family on the Buckingham Palace balcony.

Last year, the 24-year-old royal had to face flak for staying away from his grandmother’s official 80th birthday parade, though his supporters say that he was absent because of Army duties.

“He is going to Trooping the Colour but won’t be at the Falklands parade because the Army didn’t ask him,” the Daily Express quoted a senior royal aide as saying.

Since William is a good player, he has been asked to play for the Army this summer.

“He is very good by their standards so they are very keen to use him,” says a courtier. (ANI)
