© AFP/Getty Images/File Lisa Blumenfeld9 April 2007 (Sawf News) - Former N'Sync front man Timberlake, 25, talks fondly of ex Cameron Diaz, 34, but suggests he and Britney happened a long time ago.
Timberlake split from the "Charlie's Angels" star in January this year after being together for nearly four years. Speculation had raged in 2005 that they were planning to tie the knot at a wedding in the south of France.
Speaking with British GQ for its May issue, Timberlake who is known to be discreet and reticent about his past relationships, avoided going into the reasons for his split with Diaz.
"It's hard for me to talk about because we're talking about a person that I love and respect," he said.
Timberlake and Diaz have occasionally been seen together in public following their split, sparking media speculation of a rekindled romance.
"If I hear anyone say anything bad about Cameron then I'll have something to say to them," he told the magazine suggesting that there is still a spark.
Timberlake adopts a different tone when speaking of his other ex, Britney Spears.
"Honestly, I am so far removed from that situation," he says.
Britney fans who still yearn to see her get back with Timberlake will be disappointed to know Timberlake didn't have Britney in mind while accepting a Brit Award for best international male solo artist in February he said, "Stop drinking! You know who you are. I'm speaking to you. You are going to get sloppy."
Timberlake is amused by tabloid rumors that he delivered a coded message to his former Mouseketeer love.
He shakes his head in disbelief, asking, "A coded message to Britney?"
