Washington, Jan 10: What appeared as an attack by actress Angelina Jolie on pop star Madonna, with reference to her controversial adoption, was apparently just a misrepresentation of facts.
While chatting with a French magazine recently, Angie had expressed some sympathy for the Material Girl, but suggested that Madonna took a risk when she adopted a child from a country with unclear adoption laws, reports TMZ.com.
"Madonna knew the situation in Malawi, where he was born," the 31-year-old actress was quoted as saying in last week's edition of Gala, a gossip magazine. The actress also added: "In that country, there isn't really a legal framework for adopting. Personally, I prefer to stay on the side of the law."
But according to People magazine's latest reports, Angelina, 31, said that the article "included many falsehoods" and omitted positive comments. Jolie also added in her statement, "All that should count is the happiness of her little David."
Madonna and husband Guy Ritchie have been trying to sort out the media circus that has surrounded them since they left the African country of Malawi with 1-year-old David Banda. The couple have taken shots from human rights groups and media outlets for using their star power to circumnavigate the adoption laws of Malawi.(ANI)
