25 June 2007 (Sawf News) - Prince recently gave a pair of standout performances kicking off his 1312 tour in Roosevelt Hotel’s Blossom Room in Hollywood, California.
The royal one drew many a luminary among the high-priced ticketholders, including Diddy, Hilary Swank, Suge Knight, John Legend, Nas and Kelis, Rick Ross, Eykah Badu, Topher Grace, Nikka costa, Michelle Rodriguez, Nikki Cox and Jay Mohr. Among the celebs attending was Penelope Cruz, who rocked the night away in a bright yellow frock which had “banana” written all over it!!

Penelope Cruz and Nicole Kidman have so much in common, we needed to examine it a little closer. Both hotties have made films with ex-beau Tom Cruise, Penelope in Vanilla Sky, and Nicole with Eyes Wide Shut, they both have lucrative endorsement deals, and both are courted incessantly by A-list designers and jewelers who can’t wait to put their creations on them.
The Spanish rose seems a big fan of American men. Cruz has been known to wear Ralph Lauren on the carpet, and post-Tom, she’s dated Matthew McConaughey and Josh Hartnett. But then again, who wouldn’t fall for those dark brown eyes, gorgeous hair and a smile that would melt the entire Cote d’Azur? Throw in the accent and we’ve got a hands-down winner! Sadly, can’t say the same for this outfit. I think la Penelope showed up in a sunny frame of mind knowing she was going to hear Prince live, but ended up giving us a smooth shot of banana, golden ripe. I also wondered what lurked beneath the puff of fabric just below her midriff. Child? Midnight snack? Who knows. Maybe not the best-dressed, but probably the brightest-looking celeb at Roosevelt Hotel that night. Loved her from the neck up, an A-list head of hair if I have ever seen one, bright makeup and glowing skin. It’s just when you pair it with a canary bubble dress and nude-colored pumps the whole look tanks. Apparently, Prince didn’t mind because he gave in to Miss Penelope’s pleas for another encore at two-fifteen. And the Cruz gal sang “Nothing Compares 2 U” with him. She was reportedly the last to exit the room. Says something about star power, hers and his.
While any other star would get the sartorial smirk over this outfit, I’d be willing to give her a break. After all, it’s not every leading actress who can say she’s the first Spanish woman ever to be nom’d for Oscar.
