17 June 2007 (Sawf News) - You’ve seen her gracing many a tennis court in her days as a pro player, or on the arm of longtime beau Enrique Iglesias on the red carpet, but rarely do we get a glimpse of the other Anna Kournikova - The one that serves the planet and its many causes. The blonde vixen of Sports Illustrated fame recently played host at a benefit for the Nature Conservancy in New York’s Ultra Lounge.
Anna’s been around the tennis block and then some. She’s won several titles as a doubles player and made history as the youngest player ever to win the Fed Cup. But it was her sizzling appearance on the courts which attracted the most attention. The 5”8 Russian commanded possibly one of the biggest portfolios of endorsements than any of her racquet-wielding peers. Named to the 50 Most Beautiful List in People four times, she’s brought a grace and glamour to a sport in which they previously didn’t exist.
Besides the long list of endorsements, the leggy blonde can also boast of a long past! The former pro tennis player on the international women’s circuit once dated professional hockey player Pavel Bure. Post-Bure, Kournikova moved on to another hot Russian, Mr. Sergei Fedorov. She apparently shared a high-rise condo with Fedorov and the pair was rumored to have been married for a brief time. Undaunted by her failed relationships, Anna found love with singer Enrique, one of whose videos she has appeared in. The pair call Miami home when Iglesias is not on tour or his girlfriend is not competing for charity. She even encourages fans to explore his newly-released CD on her official website! A woman with a fierce backhand who supports her man. Cool!
The sports star who’s decorated the courts of tennis and has her own official calendar, now decorates the carpet for humanitarian causes. Her latest cause du celebre, The Nature Conservancy, is a nonprofit charity that is focused on the survival of plant and animal life by ensuring the preservation of their habitat.
Less Is More
Seen in a recent picture wearing a low-cut LWD and trendy peep-toe heels, the Kournikova girl looks a tad different from her Grand Slam days. The same gorgeous blonde hair, and flawless skin without the huge muscles. While she could never win a singles title, Anna surely wins us over in this tight-fitting summer dress. We love that it doesn’t skim the floor, and shows more than a little of her prized gams. What is a benefit without a great hostess? And what better hostess could one have than the twentysomething hottie. Play on, Anna.
