19 Jan 2007 (BANG Showbiz) -Victoria Beckham has signed a $9.86 million (£5 million) deal to design her own range of bags and shoes.

The former Spice Girl – whose husband David Beckham has just agreed to play for the LA Galaxy soccer team – will lend her name to a line of handbags and shoes to be sold in exclusive boutiques across the US.

A source told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "Victoria's a real stickler for detail so everything will be perfect. Her shoes will be as sexy as Christian Louboutin's – there's a huge buzz about them over here."

Victoria – who already designed a hit range of bags in Tokyo as well as her own line of jeans and sunglasses – celebrated her new deal by having dinner with new best friend Katie Holmes at Los Angeles' The Ivy.

The source added: "Katie was so thrilled for Victoria. The move to Los Angeles may seem like it's all about David's career but she isn't resting on her laurels.

"Her fashion projects were going great guns in Europe. And to have landed such a major US deal before she and her family have even moved there is amazing.”

"And it'll open doors to other great things. Her A-list pals will be seen wearing her designs so a clothes range is a natural progression."

The 32-year-old mother of three has been busy house-hunting and looking for a school for her three sons.

David has signed a £125 million deal to play for LA Galaxy and the family plans to move from Madrid to Los Angeles in the summer.
