NEW YORK (AFP) - The show, in an unusual venue for the week-long event, was relayed live to giant screens on the 42nd Street and Broadway intersection below.
The supermarket titan presented several new lines, including "George ME" by US sportswear designer Mark Eisen.
The Eisen-Walmart collaboration comes amid a trend of designers increasingly choosing to work for the mass market.
Budget footware retailer Payless recently took on the creative force behind the Abaete label, Laura Poretzky, to produce a range of shoes, while clothes and houseware store Target has partnered with French designer Sophie Albou, from Paul and Joe, to come up with a range of affordable fashions.
The most famous example of the trend remains Karl Lagerfeld's collaboration with high-street fashion house H and M.
