Kristin Davis (Charlotte York Goldenblatt) kept it simple, wearing a cherry-red vintage sleeveless dress and cream peep-toe heels.
As to the question of why the world premiere was held in London instead of New York, the place so closely associated to the entire film, the producers said it was simply to maximize the "global appeal" of the film.
Kristin Davis said: "Why not England? I like Britain. There's enough of us to go round."
"We're having a kind of smallish premiere here (and) we're having a smallish premiere in Berlin. We're building to the New York premiere which is enormous and happens just before the film opens worldwide," said Nixon.
The HBO TV series Sex and the City, is based on the book Sex and the City by Candace Bushnell. It revolves around four female friends living in New York City and dwells on romance and sexuality, particularly in the context of being a single woman.
The film, rated R for strong sexual content, graphic nudity and language, opens in Britain on May 28 and in the United States on May 30.
