Washington, Sept. 28: Almost 27-years after quitting the music industry, singer Yusuf Islam made his comeback at a live concert on Tuesday (Sept. 26), where he paid special tribute to former US President Bill Clinton.
Formerly known as Cat Stevens, Yusuf was performing at the launch of ‘The Fortune Forum Club’, a fundraising initiative in London, and he insisted that he would never have agreed to the gig if Clinton was not involved.
"Bill Clinton is one of the good things we miss about America. I remember being little and dreaming of the things this world offers. I promised myself if I got them I was going to give back," Contactmusic quoted him as saying.
The ‘Morning Has Broken’ singer, who converted to Islam and changed his name to Yusuf Islam, played in front of a star-studded audience that included Michael Douglas, Sir Richard Branson and supermodel Lily Cole, as well as his two daughters, Asman, 24, and Aminah, 26.
Yusuf had quit the music industry two years after he embraced Islam in 1977.
He will release his first pop music album in 28 years in November (06). (ANI)
