London. 28 Jun 2006. Canadian born Ms Pamela Anderson, an ardent animal rights activist, appeared in the nude in Stella McCartney's shop window at Bruton Street, London. The actress stripped off to show that she would rather go nude than wear fur as the famous PETA slogan suggests.
Pamela, 39, a former playboy model has consistently lent her fame to press the cause of the US animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). Her past activism for the cause of PETA includes writing a scathing letter to executive of the German-US firm Daimler-Chrysler asking them to make all Mercedez Benz models available without animal skin. :"Nowadays," she wrote, "people see leather less as a luxury and more as smelly, dead skin."
Earlier this year in March, she took up cudgels with the Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper to protest against the practice of Seal hunts when Ottawa authorized the cull of 325,000 seals.
"As a proud Canadian who frequently travels abroad," she wrote, "I am alarmed that people are starting to see us as a country more beholden to a pack of greedy hunters and the seal skin fashion whims of a few countries than attentive to the massive international outcry against such a barbaric activity."
Canadian officials insisted the commercial hunt is required to curb the burgeoning population of Seals, which has tripled to 5.8 million animals over the past 30 years.
