November 09, 2008, (Sawf News) - Brazil born Amir Slama added sizzle to Claro Rio Summer 2008 fashion event with the Rosa Cha runway show at Forte de Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, November 7.
The debut fashion event was held from Nov 5 to Nov 8.
After delighting us at the New York Fashion Week in September, Slama showed the depth of his creativity by presenting brand new, and equally delightful, swimwear with a few flowy beach cover-ups in blue and pink, strutted by male and female models.
The $5 million event was a brainchild of ABC Group, which organized it through its branding and content company, N-Ideias.
"International Beachwear and Summer fashion is a $ 12 billion dollar a year industry, according to the 2007 edition of the Global Market Review of Swimwear and Beachwear. The Brazilian market ranks first in consumption of beachwear in the world, with annual revenue exceeding $ 2.5 billion, representing about 15% of the national textile industry, according to the Brazilian Association of Textile and Clothing (ABIT). So, there is nothing more natural than for Rio de Janeiro to become a world capital in beachwear and summer fashion," says Nizan Guanaes, chairman of ABC Group.
World famous Brazilian star Caetano Veloso opened the Claro Rio Summer at Fasano Hotel´s swimming pool, in Ipanema. Occupying strategic points throughout the city, Claro Rio Summer had 16 brands showcasing their beachwear and summer collections.
The fashion shows took place in two tents that can hold up to 400 people each, as well as a special space for brands that plan to present their collections in an unconventional manner.
