15 Oct 2007 (Sawf News) - High end designer Sue Wong's designs reflect period style but are modern and known for technical excellence as well as intricate detailing.
Her creations are individually hand-beaded, embroidered and finished by true artisans. Born in 1949, the Asian designer was never formally trained in fashion. She moved to the US with her family in 1955 escaping communist China. At 19 she opened her own boutique selling handcrafted gowns made from vintage clothing of Shanghai.
In 1985 she established the Sue Wong Label. In 1995 she introduced Sue Wong Nocturne, an elegant eveningwear line. Her reputation stems from trendy and timeless evening and red carpet gowns.
Wong's designs are available with the finest retailers such as Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Macy's and Lord & Taylor. Her collections are also available internationally in Canada, UAE, Japan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Singapore and Indonesia.
Wong kicked off the Mercedes-Benz Los Angeles Spring 2008 Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios in Culver City by presenting her 'Modern Art' show Sunday afternoon.
A cabaret dance trio opened her show with a theatrical performance. The colorful line of dresses in abstract prints and bright solids, made of mostly silk chiffon and chartreuse, included 75 of both day and night wear.
