September 23, 2008 (Sawf News) - In a casting coup straddling multiple Bollywood rivalries, Yash Chopra has signed up Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif for his next directorial venture, after the 2004 super hit Veer Zara.
After the infamous dustup between Salman Khan and Shah Rukh at Salman's girlfriend Katrina Kaif's birthday party, it was assumed that Katrina will not ever co-star with Shah Rukh.
Yash Chopra's coup might prompt you to think that either Salman is larger hearted than most industry watchers believe him to be, or Katrina is asserting her independence in a subtle but sure manner. She first signed up for the UAE leg of the Temptations Reloaded Tour headed by Shah Rukh, and has now consented to do a film with him!
There is possibly a third explanation. Sources claim that Yash Chopra personally went and met Katrina for this role and she just could not turn him down. It was like a dream come true for her. Not only would she get to work under the Yash Raj banner coveted by all Bollywood stars, she would be working by the legendary directory himself.
We learnt that Katrina's final nod to Yash Chopra came on September 16, the day Salman left for his 40 day shoot in Paris and London for Vipul Shah's London Dreams.
If our sources are to be believed, Salman is still oblivious to the fact that Katrina has been signed up by Yash Raj Films to act opposite his current arch enemy - Shah Rukh!
The Temptations Reloaded Tour's curtain raiser is scheduled to take place in mid October in Dubai and Katrina is going to perform there on stage along with Shah Rukh, while Salman is still in London.
It remains to be seen how Salman reacts to this news.
Katrina is already doing a Yash Raj produced film, New York, directed by Kabir Khan starring Neil Nitin Mukesh and Salman's another enemy, John Abraham.
