Photo Credit: Photo Credit: Sawf NewsJune 27, 2008 (Sawf News) - There is speculation that Amitabh Bachchan ducked a face off with Salman Khan at the music launch of 'Singh Is Kinng' at Enigma, JW Marriott on Thursday late evening, June 26. Bachchan arrived early but left the event before it got underway and any of the other stars, including Salman Khan, turned up.
On arrival, Big B was escorted straight inside the venue by Producer Vipul Shah, while the media was kept waiting outside. After a wait of around 30 minutes, the media was finally let in.
When it entered, Big B was watching the film's songs on the video screens of the discotheque. Five minutes later, without offering any byte to the large media gathering, the senior superstar strode out. No other star connected with the film had yet arrived and just a handful of guests from the Bollywood fraternity were present then.
The media was stunned because it was under the impression that he was the chief guest for the music launch.
Amitabh has worked with Vipul twice in the past, in Aankhen (2002) and Waqt: Race Against Time (2005), so when Vipul asked him to launch the music for Singh Is Kinng Amitabh agreed, albeit reluctantly because he had a busy day.
In a post on his blog before the event Amitabh wrote:
"Singh is King music release. Vipul wants me to come by. Must go. Then rehearsals at night after 10. Abhishek joining me later there. Rush of life!"
Interestingly, after leaving the event Amitabh made another post at 10:32 pm saying:
"Finished Music release program of Singh is King. Promo looking good. Now to rehearsals and then blog and rest. Love as always."
While it is unlikely that Vipul had invited Amitabh as anything other than the chief guest for the release of his film's music, Ambitabh's early exit may not have had anything to do with Salman Khan.
Bachchan has been peeved at the manner in which a section of the media has been targeting his family and that may have prompted him not to speak to the media last night.
Recently there was a report that Abhishek Bachchan had slapped a spot boy on the set of Drona. Amitabh rubbished the report on his blog today saying, "Abhishek does not have the ability to strike a fly."
Yesterday, the Mumbai Mirror carried another story suggesting that relations between Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai were going through a rough patch. The report, which lacked credibility, was blindly echoed by a large section of the media eager for a Aishwarya story simply because it gets them the eyeball.
