June 5, 2008 (Sawf News) - While speaking to the press recently, Aishwarya said that she has just two Hollywood projects on hand - Pink Panther 2 and Singularity. What happened to Sir Ben Kingsley magnum opus 'Taj Mahal' announced with much fan fare last year, we wondered?

Aishwarya was to play Shah Jahan's love Mumtaz Mahal in the film while Bipasha Basu was to be the king's eldest daughter Jahanara Begum.

Production work on the film was to start in the middle of this year. Even after factoring in delay on account of the three month strike by Hollywood writers late last year, the film should have been mentioned by Aishwarya.

However, this is what she said.

"I have completed Pink Panther 2 and Singularity is yet to be directed. They have sent me the final draft of the script and this development took place at Cannes.

"I haven't had time ever since... I will go through the final draft and then of course I will look at the dates and the schedules and if all works out then the project will be happening next year. For now that's the only thing."

So had the Taj project been dropped?

"No!" says Simone Sheffield, who is co-producing the film with Sir Ben Kingsley.

"TAJ's writer is in final negotiations then it will take months to get a script," she adds.

Explaining why Aishwarya did not mention the film when speaking with the press Simone said, "Aishwarya does NOT always discuss each and every film she is involved in."

Well, that is just what we wanted to hear.
