April 8, 2008 (Sawf News) - Akshay Kumar has turned down an offer from Sushmita Sen to play Tantya Tope, a war hero at the forefront of the Indian rebellion of 1857, in her dream project Rani Lakshmi Bai - The Warrior Queen, because of his busy schedule.
"It would be an honor to bring a stalwart to life on celluloid. However, I have a list of films which I have to complete, before I take on any new project," Akshay was quoted as saying by TOI.
"Films on history or great characters need research and time and without which I would not even attempt to think of enacting them. So, I am definitely not a part of any such films at the moment, and I wish the films all the luck," he added.
Akshay was earlier offered the role of Tantya Tope in a film being jointly produced by Firoz Nadiadwala and National Film Developement Corporation.
