A still from 'Krishna'

New Delhi, Sept 28: As the country starts celebrating one month of religious festivities, Bollywood would be releasing two movies based on Hindu mythology to cash in on the mood. Both these movies have been directed by Muslim directors.

While Jai Santoshi Maa has been directed by Ahmed Siddiqui, Krishna has been directed by Aman Khan. Aman’s Krishna is an animation made for the kids, after the success of Hanuman.

The films coming in tow after two major terrorist attacks –in Mumbai and Malegaon- are expected to provide the elixir to the bruised psyche of Hindus.

Bollywood, for that matter, has been insulated from such narrow religious ‘purdahs’. The reigning actors of Hindi Cinema- Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan- are Muslims and they are never treated as pariahs either in the industry or by film buffs.

The industry never had been divided on communal lines, even when there were interfaith tensions elsewhere.

The magnum opus on small screen-Mahabharta was scripted by a Muslim scholar Dr. Rahi AMsoom Reza, whose dialogue for Lord Krishna in that serial is unparallel.

Jai Santoshi Maa, a remake of its earlier version of the same name, is a story of a distress couple’s story, who seek God’s blessing to ride off the bad phase in life.

The film has been produced by Percept Picture Company.

“It is not a religious film. Rather, is a film that has faith at the core. It is a remake of the Santoshi Maa concept, not the film”, The Hindu quoted Siddiqui as saying.

The animated Krishna from the house of Sethia Audio Video Private Limited, targets children, its music has already become popular.

With the best bhajan in recent times has come from the pen of Javed Akhtar and AR Rehman’s musical notes, Bollywood has already set itself apart in teaching the essence of inter-faith harmony. (ANI)
